PRESIDENT FELIPE CALDERÓN MEET WITH PRIME MINISTER YOSHIHIKO NODA

During the Sixth G-20 Leaders’ Summit, Mexican President Felipe Calderón met with Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihiko Noda. The two leaders discussed the state of bilateral relations and other issues of mutual interest.

In the meeting, the leaders hailed the signing of the Modificatory Protocol to reinforce the Mexico-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement, signed on 22 September, which will increase Mexican exports of agricultural goods and other products.

President Calderón and Prime Minister Noda highlighted the fact that in recent years there has been a significant advance in bilateral trade and investment, as well as scientific and technological cooperation. They also hailed the increase in Japanese direct investment in Mexico.

In addition, they discussed the solid cooperation between Mexico and Japan in the event of earthquakes and exchanged points of view regarding the reconstruction of Japan following the devastating earthquake in March. The Mexican president concluded by inviting the Japanese Prime Minister to visit this country, which will reinforce and consolidate the Global Strategic Partnership signed by the two countries in 2010.
